What could be causing significant and inconsistent frame rate drops in various games after upgrading to a new GPU?
I have recently replaced my 1070 Founder's Edition GPU with a Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 7800XT GPU, and since then I have noticed a drastic decrease in the performance of some of the games I play. For example, in Baldur's Gate 3, I used to get around 110-120 fps, but now I only get 90-100 fps. In Dota 2, the difference is even more noticeable, as I used to get 180-200 fps, but now I barely get 60-90 fps. This is very frustrating and disappointing, as I expected the new GPU to improve my gaming experience, not worsen it.
I have tried various troubleshooting steps, such as updating all my drivers, scanning for malware, optimizing my SSDs, underclocking my CPU, checking the hardware connections, and restoring to a previous system point, but none of them have solved the problem. I am wondering if there is something wrong with the new GPU itself, or if there is some compatibility issue with the rest of my system. My system specifications are:
OS: Windows 10
GPU: Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 7800XT
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
CPU Cooler: AMD Wraith Stealth w/ Aluminum Heatsink (default heatsink)
Memory: 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2400MHZ
Motherboard: ASUS AM4 TUF Gaming X570-Plus
Storage: Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD & Samsung 980 SSD (both are M.2 NVMe)
PSU: Corsair RM750 (750 Watt)
I
would appreciate any expert advice or suggestions on how to fix this issue and restore my gaming performance to the expected level. Thank you.
